Robert M. Daisley Biographical Information

Summary of Background and Legal Experience

In the high-stakes world of dispute resolution, Rob Daisley stands out as one of America’s preeminent mediators, with a singular focus encapsulated in his catchphrase: “Our Mission Is To Get To The Printer.”

Since becoming certified in 2004, Rob has served as mediator in over 5,000 matters. He mediates over 275 cases a year. With over 40 years of experience in civil litigation as trial lawyer and mediator, he is Florida’s go-to for mediating first-party property claims, complex commercial disputes in state and federal court, and severe injury cases. He credits his success to a flexible mediation system that includes several “impasse buster” options adaptable to each case.

Clients give rave reviews: “His innovative approach turned what seemed like an impossible impasse into a swift settlement. Truly the best in town.”

Rob is a respected member of both the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the International Academy of Mediators. He frequently leads workshops with other prominent mediators, most recently “Missing The Forest For The Trees,” in which top international mediators shared best practices for recognizing and addressing subtle nuances in communication. His global reach includes a recent talk at the University of Auckland Law School, which led to a robust discussion with both law students and senior barristers on the myths and realities of mediating efficiently and effectively.

As a lawyer in private practice prior to becoming a Mediator, Mr. Daisley represented individuals and consumers as well as small, large and multi-national businesses and insurance companies. Mr. Daisley’s commercial experience includes everything from contract disputes resolved without ever going to court to complex multi-party commercial disputes litigated through trial and appeal in federal court. Mr. Daisley’s personal injury experience includes representation of both plaintiffs and defendants.  In insurance disputes, he has represented not only insureds but also insurance companies and insurance agents. In employment cases, he has worked for employers as well as employees. In real estate, he has handled matters for individuals, agents and brokers, businesses and government.

Mr. Daisley brings that extensive experience to his practice as a Mediator. Chances are that with any of the types of matters for which Mr. Daisley is available to serve as a Mediator, not only is he familiar with the legal issues in dispute, but also with the perspectives of all the parties. He is quick to understand what the lawyers for all sides are saying because typically, he has sat in their shoes before.

Most importantly, Mr. Daisley is focused on getting to the printer, both figuratively and literally. If you are looking to settle your case, Mr. Daisley has the closer’s mentality needed for you and your clients to succeed. He has earned a reputation for working hard, working creatively and getting the job done.

The Florida Supreme Court has certified Mr. Daisley as a Circuit Civil Mediator.  Mr. Daisley also is certified as a Federal Civil Mediator by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Daisley was born and raised just outside of Washington, D.C.  He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College at age 20 and Order of the Coif  from the University of Virginia School of Law at age 23.  Upon graduating from law school in 1983, he moved to Florida to enter private law practice with Holland & Knight.  He has lived in Tampa ever since.

Rob lives in Tampa with his wife Chantal, who doubles as his case manager. In addition to dedicating time to family, they travel together to Breckenridge, Colorado, for outdoor adventures and to Wales for exhilarating Wrexham AFC matches. At the South Tampa YMCA and Breck Rec Center, Rob teaches Les Mills BodyPump classes. He also leads canoe trips in northern Ontario’s remote wilderness for Camp Temagami. These pursuits offer perspective for guiding parties to the printer, out of litigation, and back to enjoying life’s better things.
